Chris Likes Wolston Park

Excessive rain leading up to the day caused too much dampness at the original venue of Gainsborough Greens, so a late venue change was arranged to play at Wolston Park. Twelve people arrived for this mother’s day event, which was a good turnout given the short notice. Some moisture was underfoot at Wolston Park also, but the course held together pretty well as did the autumn weather. The group teed off the tenth for this second round of the championships, and the third round of the putting.

Scott Porter’s clubhouse score of 60 was looking the goods until Chris Young came in late with his 57 for the win. If that sounds familiar, it’s because Chris did the same thing at this venue (but to Tony) the last time we visited. Seems he likes being in a late group on this course, thus the venue change worked in his favour.

All seven pin shots were claimed, with the 10th going to our daily winner, the 13th going to the runner-up, 16th to secretary Mick van Bemmel, 3rd and 8th going to Ricky Ong, and the 5th going to Allan Gillam. Longest drive on 18 went to Phil Dacey.

Hopefully the next event will be as scheduled – if so it’ll be in two week’s time on May 23 at Windaroo Lakes with a 6:54 tee time. That’ll be the third round of the championships, and the fourth round of the putting.
